Chanel to open beach-themed UK pop-up to celebrate Rouge Coco lipsticks

The French brand’s ‘playground’ is coming to London and features make-up sessions, skateboarding performances and a first look at an exclusive product

Chanel is opening a beach-themed UK beauty pop-up this month, focused on its Rouge Coco lipstick range.

The luxury French fashion house’s Rouge Coco Playground activation will appear in London shopping destination Covent Garden from 21 to 30 March.

Live skateboarding performances, games and treats, along with photo and video opportunities for visitors to take part in will feature..

The pop-up is celebrating Chanel’s Rouge Coco and Rouge Coco Flash lipsticks, as well as Rouge Coco Baume and Baume Shine.n exclusive new product will also be available.

A customisable set with a choice of two Rouge Coco lipsticks comes with a Chanel lipstick charm that can be attached to bags.

Visitors can book a 60-minute session with a Chanel make-up artist or 75-minute masterclass costing £60 and £45 respectively.

Both fees are redeemable against purchases, and customers will also receive a goody bag.

The ten-day event is free to enter and opens from 10am until 7pm from Monday to Saturday and 12pm until 6pm on Sunday.

Skateboarding performances will run regularly through the day at midday, 2.30pm and 5pm.

Covent Garden is already the home of Chanel’s first- ever beauty boutique which opened in 2012.

The busy Ccentral London Piazza has since become a hotspot for beauty brands, with many choosing the location for both a temporary and permanent presence in recent years.

Prada promoted its skin care, make-up and fragrance collection with a Prada Picnic activation over the weekend.

Lancome chose the central London area for a two-day pop-up last year for the launch of its Lip Idôle lip balm.

Mecca Cosmetica, Djerf Avenue and Gisou were also among the names to host pop-ups there in 2024.

Dolce & Gabbana (D&G) unveiled its first beauty and accessories hybrid store at the shopping destination in February.

Charlotte Tilbury has made Covent Garden the home of its flagship store which was recently expanded to triple the size of its initial 4,300sq ft

Aesop, Glossier, Guerlain, Creed, Elemis, Diptique and Jo Malone London also have stores in the area.

Meanwhile Chanel picked Edinburgh for a pop-up celebrating the launch of its Margot Robbie-fronted Rouge Allure Velvet Nuit Blanche lipstick range last year and Harrods for a pop-up debuting its 2024 Christmas range,
