Chanel has landed BTS boy band member Jung Kook as Global Ambassador for Fragrance & Beauty.
The 28-year-old South Korean star was chosen to front the French luxury giant due to his “ability to push boundaries, both on stage and in the studio”, which is said to resonate with the house’s values.
Kook is a singer, songwriter and member of award-winning band BTS, which has sold millions of records worldwide thanks to hits ‘Butter, ‘Dynamite’, and ‘Blood Sweat & Tears’
He has also made his mark with a range of solo tracks, including ‘Euphoria’, ‘My Time’ and ‘Still With You’.
“I have long admired his incredible talent, his music career and his distinctive commitment to self-expression, not to mention his bold creative choices,” said Thomas du Pré de Saint Maur, Head of Global Creative Resources for Fragrances & Beauty, Chanel.
“He perfectly embodies the essence of our house.
“He is an inspiration for the new generation, bringing passion and creativity wherever he goes.
“I am genuinely excited about this upcoming collaboration.”
The appointment is said to reaffirm Chanel’s commitment to “embodying the spirit of its time by partnering with talents who inspire and reinvent the codes of contemporary creation”, read a company statement.
Kook said he is “truly delighted” to join Chanel’s ambassador roster.
He added: “For me, Chanel is a pioneering house that cherishes its timeless heritage while constantly reinventing itself with modernity.
“As an artist, I try to stay true to my own style while embracing new challenges, so this partnership with Chanel Fragrance & Beauty is especially meaningful to me.”
Other Chanel ambassadors include actors Margot Robbie and Whitney Peak.
