Charlotte Tilbury is the beauty brand recommended the most by artificial intelligence (AI)-powered chatbot ChatGPT when it comes to inspiration for beauty gifting this Christmas.

The ‘AI Christmas Nice List’, created by digital marketing and PR agency Tank, ranked the beauty brands being suggested by the OpenAI-owned chatbot, awarding a mention score based on how early products are recommended.

Charlotte Tilbury achieved the highest mention score of 30 in the beauty sector out of nearly 130 websites.

Following the Puig-owned make-up brand is Estée Lauder, Clinique and Lookfantastic, with mention scores of 18 and a joint nine, respectively.

Rounding off the list are Carolina Herrera and MAC Cosmetics, both achieving mention scores of eight, as well as Clarins, GHD, Lush and Pai Skincare, all with a score of seven.

‘AI’s Christmas Nice List’ also revealed that UK department store chain John Lewis & Partners shows up the most overall in ChatGPT, with 31 mentions across eight out of ten sectors.

However, Charlotte Tilbury’s dominance in the ranking comes down to the groundwork the brand has already laid, Martin Harris, Head of Digital at Tank, told Cosmetics Business.

“Its marketing efforts mean it ranks highly on Google for branded, product and how-to searches, so it often shows up when people are looking for inspiration or advice, as well as products.
