Philip Kingsley has named a new CEO to lead a “new era” at the iconic hair care brand.
Joseph Scott Grigsby will take the helm at the more than 60-year-old hair and scalp brand, which is known for products such as the iconic Elasticizer Deep Conditioning Treatment.
Grigsby brings 25 years of experience in the beauty and wellness industry to the role, including time at Estée Lauder Companies (ELC), where he helped found its EMEA corporate innovation team.
He has also held roles in marketing, sales, innovation and retail at Sephora in Europe and L’Oreal.
Grigsby started his career in hair care at Wella US and also helped spearhead the international expansion of luxury hair care brand Virtue in recent years.
“I am deeply honoured to lead such an iconic brand at this pivotal moment,” said Grigsby.
“Philip Kingsley has been a pioneer in the hair and scalp sector for over 60 years, consistently providing expertise, advice and solutions for our clients.
“As we continue to experience phenomenal growth in this category, our team remains committed to upholding the personal legacy of Philip Kingsley.”
The premium hair care brand was founded by trichologist Philip Kinglsey, who opened his first clinic in London in 1957.
Further clinics followed, attracting celebrity clients such as Jane Fonda and Cate Blanchett, as did the launch of a range of products for use at home and in salons.
The brand remains family-owned since Kinglsey’s passing in 2016, and his daughter Anabel Kingsley who is also a trichologist, is Brand President.
Commenting on the appointment, she said: “Joseph brings exceptional leadership and experience in the global beauty and cosmetic industry, particularly in the hair category.
“His expertise in marketing, innovation, retail, and international expansion, combined with his passion for brand building, will be invaluable as we continue to scale globally.
“My father Philip Kingsley was a pioneer in hair and scalp health.
“Our mission is to uphold his legacy of trust, expertise, and care – while continuing to formulate cutting-edge products for our customers.
“With Joseph at the helm, I am confident we will accelerate our growth and further strengthen our position as the leaders in trichology, bringing our proven solutions to even more people around the world.”
Previous CEO Blake Hughes, who took up the role in 2017, departed in August 2019 according to his LinkedIn profile.
Earlier this year, the premium hair care brand appointed Nicky Kinnaird, founder of Space NK, as a Non-Executive Director.
