Once an overlooked part of the hair care routine, scalp care is now front and centre, and rightly so as it is the fundamental catalyst for hair growth.
With the global scalp care market projected to reach US$20.79bn by 2030, growing at a CAGR of 7.1%, according to Coherent Market Insights, the message is clear: scalp health is big business.
TikTok has helped to amplify that message.
Spate data shows that hashtags like #ScalpCare and #ScalpTreatment have amassed nearly one billion views, as consumers embrace scalp exfoliation, serums, tools and even UV protection as essential steps in their routines.
Much like skin care, this growing focus on the scalp is rooted in science, from microbiome balance to inflammation control, and it is driving a new generation of innovation across beauty.
Why scalp care is having a breakthrough moment
Florence Roghe, founder of brand consultancy Collateral Projects, noted at beauty trade event In-Cosmetics Global 2025 the prominence of scalp wellness across the exhibition floor.
In her view, this is more than a passing trend: “Hair holds deep symbolic and emotional significance – it is connected to identity, culture, confidence and memory.
“It deserves to be treated with the same level of care and consideration as the rest of our skin.”
