Olaplex is making its first move into styling with the launch of Shape Set hairspray.
The science-backed hair care company, best known for its bond building repair products, is aiming to deliver long-lasting, high-performance hold with the NPD – without the typical stiffness, crunch, or dryness.
Tickets are now available for the 25th anniversary of the Pure Beauty Awards, taking place on 15 October 2026 at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London, UK. Join the beauty industry for an evening of recognition and celebration as this year’s winners are revealed. Click here to secure your place.
Shape Set also brings Olaplex’s damage repair to styling routines, helping strengthen and protect.
“Most hairsprays have historically required some kind of compromise – between hold and movement, performance and touchability, or the finished style and the health of the hair,” said Amanda Baldwin, CEO of Olaplex.
“Shape Set is about eliminating that tradeoff.
“Damage does not only happen during a chemical service; it happens in the things we do to our hair every day, including how we style it.
“Bringing repair technology into those everyday moments is a natural progression for Olaplex.
“With Shape Set, we are reshaping the rules of what hairspray can do – and it is an important part of how we will continue to expand our approach to hair health.”
Olaplex has formulated Shape Set with moisture-replenishing actives and high-refelective index glossing agents.
This is said to infuse hair strands with weightless nourishment, hydration and high-wattage shine, for hair that looks and feels healthy, as well as high-performance hold.
A “shape preserve” complex offers flexible hold, with high-performance polymers and hair-protective plant-based extract.
These ingredients are said to help lock in finished looks, as well as provide clinically proven frizz control and 96-hour hold, that protects hair integrity during and post-styling process, including up to 450°F heat and UV protection.
Aimed at both professionals and consumers, and for all hair types, textures and colours, Shape Set also contains Bond Set Technology – an encapsulated peptide that is said to relink broken disulfide bonds to strengthen, shape and style from the inside out.
"Traditional hairspray technology is designed primarily to create a film around the hair that holds it in place,” said Lavinia Popescu, Chief Science and Innovation Officer at Olaplex.
"With Shape Set, we engineered two levels of performance: Bond Set Technology works within the hair to strengthen its internal structure, while flexi-hold polymers create a flexible network around the strand that allows hair to hold its shape without becoming rigid.
"That combination is what allows us to deliver lasting hold with movement and touchability, while simultaneously addressing damage."
The Henkel-owned hair care brand will support the launch of Shape Set with a new campaign featuring American actress, comedian and Olaplex user Chloe Fineman.
In the "Re-Shape the Rules" campaign, Fineman will reprise her role as Chief Hair Officer, which she played for the launch of Olpalex’s No.3 Plus earlier this year.
Shape Set, $38, is available to buy from today on Olaplex.com, in store and online at Sephora and Ulta Beauty, plus online at Amazon and on TikTok Shop.
Olaplex’s extension into the styling arena follows the hair care brand entering fragrance in June.
The limited edition Signature Hair and Body Mist is based on the scent of its hair care range – a blend of grapefruit zest and sugared mint – which appears across Olaplex products such as No.3 Hair Perfector and No.7 Bonding Oil.
