Estée Lauder Companies’ (ELC) Leonard Lauder (pictured) has been given the Neiman Marcus Award for Distinguished Service in the Field of Fashion.
Lauder, ELC’s Chairman Emeritus, has been recognised by the US retailer for his “visionary leadership and long-standing impact on the beauty and luxury industries, brand stewardship and dedication to philanthropy”.
The Neiman Marcus Award honours excellence in the luxury industry and brand partners who share the retailer's “innovative approach to delighting the US luxury customer”.
ELC and Neiman Marcus have a long-standing relationship.
Neiman Marcus was one of the early retailers of the Estée Lauder line and also the exclusive retailer for Tom Ford Beauty in the US upon launch.
“Leonard Lauder is a singular force who forever changed the beauty industry,” said Geoffroy van Raemdonck, CEO of Neiman Marcus Group.
“His stewardship led the Estée Lauder Companies to become home to some of the world’s most beloved beauty brands.
“Leonard understands the power of relationships and his values continue to remain imbued in the company culture today.
“Along every step of the way, he has been a remarkable partner in our journey to bring the world’s most exceptional brands to our customers.”
Lauder's achievements will be celebrated at Neiman Marcus via a year-long consumer activation campaign led by ELC brands.
This will include “immersive” brand experiences and displays which engage consumers directly with ELC’s luxury portfolio.
“As I reflect upon the extraordinary partnership between ELC and Neiman Marcus, this award represents a celebration of collaboration and of people working together with a great sense of purpose, bringing their best to the industry,” said Lauder.
Leonard is not the only Lauder family member to have received this award – the honour was previously given to his mother Estée Lauder in 1962.
Other past winners of the Neiman Marcus Award for Distinguished Service in the Field of Fashion include Karl Lagerfeld, Elsa Schiaparelli, Oscar de la Renta and Ralph Lauren.
ELC has been undergoing a major global leadership shake-up lately, with Stéphane de La Faverie appointed the company’s new President and CEO.
He succeeds long-term ELC President and CEO Fabrizio Freda who is retiring next year.
A new UK & Ireland ELC President has also been appointed after Sue Fox announced her retirement.
Meanwhile, three changes have been made to ELC’s North America leadership team to fuel its next phase of growth; while Jane Lauder, the granddaughter of Estée Lauder, is also planning to depart ELC.
