Luxury fragrance brand Miller Harris is strengthening its Asian retail presence by opening a second store in Shanghai, China.
The announcement comes a month after it opened its first-ever international store in Harbour City, Hong Kong.
Like its Hong Kong shop, the brand has taken inspiration from ‘The Fashionista’ for the latest store’s decor.
Inside, mirrored wardrobes are printed with an image of London’s Covent Garden and denim walls are decorated with hand painted flowers.
Meanwhile, pink leather and brass details complement a modern marble floor.
Across London, the brand’s shops are inspired by ‘The Poet’, ‘The Botanist’ and ‘The Artist’ in Canary Wharf, Kings Cross, Covent Garden and Shepherds Bush.
CEO Sarah Rotheram, who has been the driving force behind Miller Harris’ retail strategy, told Cosmetics Business the best way to land in a new market is to have a store where consumers can experience the brand.
“Unfortunately, there is an awful lot of the same on the high street. They’re cannibalising each other a little bit and not carving out something different,” she said.
“Those that are prepared to challenge the norm are the ones that will survive and it’s not just the UK, we’re seeing the same challenges internationally.”
