Givaudan has opened its first fine fragrance creative hub in Shanghai, China.
L’Appartement 125 will enable the Swiss beauty supplier to work with Chinese brands to co-create perfumes, hoping to set a new standard for fragrance development in the region.
“By engaging with local talent and fostering innovation, Givaudan aims to create a vibrant community of fragrance creators,” read a statement from the company.
L’Appartement 125 comprises a fully operational laboratory, interactive fragrance wall and sensory garden.
Perfumers will have access to the company’s olfactive palettes, including Chinese ingredients.
“A dedicated fine fragrance team, starting with talented perfumer Jasmine Liu, will be permanently established in Shanghai, working in close connection with our global fine fragrance team,” said Givaudan’s Global Head of Fine Fragrances Xavier Renard.
“We will make sure these collaborations will generate new ideas and concepts, allowing us to push the boundaries of fine fragrance even further."
The centre will also provide insights on the latest trends in the Chinese beauty market, including the increasing demand for “personalised and highly premium fragrances”.
A roster of workshops, training sessions and fragrance exhibitions will be on offer.
