This year, beauty industry insiders and savvy consumers alike have had their eyes opened to blush blindness, bought into ‘smelling expensive’ and have banked on collagen.

Quite literally, as #collagenbanking became the skin care trend among younger consumers looking to stave off the first signs of ageing.

But what beauty trends – in skin care especially – will 2025 usher in?

And can the makers of the next tranche of highly-effective skin care ingredients help us pinpoint the beauty buzzwords of the future?  

Preventative phrases

“Brands are in need of differentiation at the moment, because there is just so much happening,” says Clotilde Drapé, Global Analyst Beauty & Personal Care at Mintel, of the beauty industry’s desire to coin a viral term.

“I do feel a pattern, though, with what we are seeing at the moment. There is a lot of focus on prevention and preventative treatments in skin care,” she adds.
