Margot Robbie has officially taken on the role as the face of Chanel N°5.
The Australian actress stars in a new campaign film titled 'See You at Five', which premiered yesterday.
Directed by Italian filmmaker Luca Guadagnino, known for Call Me By Your Name and Challengers, the advert aims to offer a fresh take on the world of N°5.
Guadagnino, brings his signature cinematic style to the fragrance campaign, which Chanel has described as “a rigorously articulated, meticulously conceived scenario that illustrates the liberated feminine personality at the heart of the fragrance".
Robbie is joined in the film by Saltburn actor Jacob Elordi, who plays her romantic interest.
The storyline follows a playful miscommunication, as Robbie’s character texts Elordi with the message ‘see you at five’ prompting him to hop on his motorcycle.
Robbie's outfit, meanwhile, a classic Chanel red tweed mini skirt and jacket, is an homage to Carole Bouquet’s iconic look in the 1986 Chanel N°5 advert directed by Ridley Scott.
As the film progresses, the pair rush to meet each other, Robbie in a convertible along the California coast, and Elordi riding ahead only to arrive at each other’s houses due to the misunderstanding.
The film ends with Robbie embracing her freedom, diving into the ocean.
Robbie’s appointment as the new face of Chanel N°5 was announced last month, succeeding French actress Marion Cotillard, who held the role since 2020.
Chanel praised Robbie’s unique blend of talent and charisma, stating: “an ambassador of the house since 2018, the Australian actress and producer is part of the lineage of great women who have embodied the essence of this iconic fragrance".
On her new role, Robbie expressed her excitement, saying, “Chanel N°5 is one of the most iconic fragrances in the world, it's incredible to be a part of it”.
“There’s such an impressive lineage of women associated with the fragrance, and I’m honoured to join this incredible list of talents.”
