Vegamour, a biotech-powered hair care brand, has been acquired by Belle Brands, a platform company formed by consumer-focused private investment firm Windsong Global.
The hair care business, founded in 2016 by beauty executive Daniel Hodgdon, joins Belle Brands' growing portfolio of beauty businesses, which includes JVN Hair, Pipette, KVD Beauty and Versed.
Belle Brands Global President Teresa Lo said: "Brands with a clinically-backed approach to product development, a deeply passionate community, and a focus on accessibility are the kind of brands Belle Brands looks for when it comes to building out our portfolio.
“Vegamour has all of those attributes and more.
“They are a pioneer in the hair wellness space with exclusive retail distribution at Sephora, a stalwart in beauty that has helped bring hair health front-and-centre to countless consumers.”
Vegamour's hero products include GRO Hair Serum, which is designed to reduce hair shedding and support thicker, fuller-looking hair over time.
Plus, GRO Revitalizing Shampoo, formulated to wash away dirt and oil without stripping the hair’s natural moisture or colour.
Vegamour received US$80m in funding from growth equity firm General Atlantic in 2021 to help advance the business’ capabilities.
In May 2022, Vegamour scaled its physical retail footprint by launching nationwide into more than 400 Sephora stores.
This came alongside a major international expansion into the UK, Europe and Australia.
William Sweedler, Chairman, Belle Brands, and CEO and Managing Partner, Windsong, added: "We designed Belle Brands on the thesis that exceptional beauty brands can be advantaged by scale while not undermining the distinction and authenticity of their brand or connection with their community.
Belle Brands provides what a single business is often challenged to deliver alone.
“Across our portfolio, this approach has reduced operating expenses to facilitate more investment in product development, retail partnership and consumer marketing.”
Michael Dill, Partner, Windsong and Board Member of Belle Brands, continued: "Vegamour is a special brand that sits at the intersection of ‘clean’ beauty, modern hair wellness and efficacy.
“We are excited to continue serving the Vegamour community, invigorating our relationship with Sephora, and investing in new products that maintain Vegamour's distinct leadership in this category.”
