Blush-heavy looks have been one of the most defining make-up trends of the 2020s, and this summer it seems to have reached its peak.

After several years of trends spanning from tomato girl to strawberry girl and now pomegranate girl make-up, not to mention boyfriend blush, glazed blush and sunset blush, looks have grown increasingly bold.

This summer, Sabrina Carpenter dominated make-up looks as much as she did the music charts, as the ‘Espresso’ singer’s signature blush-heavy look went viral, while Hailey Bieber unveiled Rhode’s on-the-go cream Pocket Blushes, as the secret behind her dewy flushed cheeks, a range that has been in the pipeline for two years.

The blush craze has converted into sales that this year are as bold as the aesthetic: according to Circana, sales of blush have rocketed by 50% between January and July 2024, versus the same period last year.

Brands across the board have been bolstering growth by doubling down on new development – blush product launches are up 20% on last year and the sales generated by new launches in this category have more than doubled (+115%).
