After years of building a following through their in-depth product analysis, The Lipstick Lesbians have launched their own brand, Leaked Labs.
The TikTok viral educator duo and real-life couple, Alexis Androulakis and Dr Christina Basias Androulakis, are setting out to do something different under Leaked Labs by, as the name suggests, ‘leaking’ innovative lab samples previously shelved or believed to be too advanced for beauty’s current climate.
These products will be introduced in limited quantities to capture real-world performance before scaling – a seemingly backwards approach to beauty product development, and one that could change the market forever.
What sets Leaked Labs apart?
“The Leaked Labs concept is very interesting because it makes beauty’s innovation pipeline more visible to consumers,” explained independent Innovation and Product Strategy Manager Fernanda Angelucci.
“The idea of releasing lab-born formulas as controlled ‘Leaks’ brings people closer to the development process, which is something the industry usually keeps behind the scenes.”
Cindy Liberman, a Marketing Strategist and Fractional Marketing Executive, added: “The lab sample-first approach is really smart.
“Dropping limited edition products creates buzz and scarcity, and keeping only the best-sellers in the permanent collection will reduce inventory waste – a big win for sustainability.”
Although not fully fleshed out product concepts, Angelucci said the “leaks” will still have to adhere to industry standards in terms of essential safety and regulatory requirements.
