Seven instances of high flames associated with Vacation’s Legendary Vacation sku were reported

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has recalled 13,000 units of Vacation’s Legendary Vacation candle.

CPSC’s action follows seven complaints of high candle flames, some of which resulted in the glass container breaking.

This poses a fire and laceration hazard, although no injuries have been reported.

The Legendary Vacation candles fall under the Miami, Florida-headquartered company’s Vacation Black Label Scented Candles brand.

They come in a black glass vessel with a foil gold-colour label.

According to Vacation’s website, the candles capture the scent of its sunscreen in deluxe perfumed candle form and are designed to provide “poolside scented memories”.

The units were sold online via vacation.inc, Amazon, ulta.com and other stores across the US between November 2023 and September this year.

The manufacturer is contacting all known purchasers directly.

Consumers are advised to stop using the recalled candles immediately and to contact Vacation to receive a refund of US$42.

Candle recalls by the safety commission are relatively common.

In May 2023, retailer Target recalled nearly 5 million candles due to laceration and burn hazards, followed by 2.2 million more last August.

And this year, Orly Corporation withdrew nearly 4,000 scented candles sold via Cracker Barrel Old Country Store.

The round wooden bowl plus high flame presented a fire hazard.

Meanwhile, Trader Joe’s recalled 653,000 units of its Mango Tangerine Scented Candles due to instances of the candle flame spreading from the wick to the wax.
