Valentino Beauty has launched its Vendetta campaign, spotlighting its new prestige fragrance duo of the same name.

Fronted by Brand Ambassadors Dakota Johnson, known for roles in movies Madame Web and 50 Shades of Grey, and Alexander Skarsgård, star of film Pillion and upcoming release Wicker, the new fragrance campaign explores the theme of “contemporary intimacy”.

In the campaign film, shot on 35mm under the cinematic direction of Romain Gavras, and imagery, shot by Inez and Vinoodh (the Dutch-American visual artist duo Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin), Johnson and Skarsgård star as a “magnetic” duo, portraying the Vendetta lovers.

Valentino Beauty said the lovers reflect a “modern archetype [of] two partners orbiting one another, united by a shared irreverence and a sense of freedom found only through mutual recognition”.

Soundtracked by the band the Pet Shop Boys’ ‘It’s a Sin’, the visual campaign spotlights a central theme of “passion as an act of defiance”, with Valentino’s signature red used as a symbolic thread throughout.

Vendetta comprises two scents, Vendetta Donna, created by Master Perfumer Dominique Ropion in collaboration with Perfumer Andrew Everett, and Vendetta Uomo, created by Master Perfumer Marie Salamagne.

Vendetta Donna is a “floral gourmand woody built around the most carnal expression of tuberose”, a flower known for its aphrodisiac, narcotic scent.

Meanwhile, Vendetta Uomo is a woody spicy gourmand that “explores masculine sensuality through texture and contrast", read the company statement.
