The Inkey List has unveiled an innovation that it claims will redefine the hydration category: Ectoin Hydro-Barrier Serum.
The product launches today at Sephora and will roll out worldwide, including Boots stores, from 3 January.
A dual-action product, Ectoin Hydro-Barrier Serum combines barrier science with hydration technology to deliver visible skin transformation in as little as 15 minutes, according to the brand.
The star of the formula is ectoin, a naturally-derived extremolyte celebrated for its ability to defend against dehydration, reduce inflammation and stabilise skin cells under environmental stress.
Known for helping plants and organisms thrive in harsh conditions like salt lakes and deserts, ectoin powers the serum to hydrate up to ten surface layers deep.
According to The Inkey List, Ectoin Hydro-Barrier Serum has been clinically tested to deliver measurable results quickly.
Skin is visibly bouncier and smoother in just seven days, with an immediate hydration boost and strengthened barrier after just 15 minutes.
The formula works layer by layer to target compromised skin from environmental stressors, overuse of actives and dehydration, addressing both short-term concerns and long-term skin health.
It includes 2% ectoin, as well as 2.5% hyaluronic acid in a blend of four molecular weights to deliver hydration across multiple layers of the skin.
Finally, 1% Barrier Blend is enriched with three ceramides to restore and protect the skin’s natural moisture barrier.
Founders Colette Laxton and Mark Curry emphasised that while barrier serums are trending, the Ectoin Hydro-Barrier Serum stands apart.
“The skin care market is flooded with barrier serums, but we know that if you want the ultimate healthy skin, just focusing on barrier isn’t enough, you need barrier plus hydration,” they explain.
