The exhibition at this year’s Art Basel Miami Beach art show will celebrate the Brazilian flair of the body care brand’s history

Sol de Janeiro is hosting an exhibition dedicated to scent for this year’s Art Basel Miami Beach premier art show.

The ‘Jardim Sol de Janeiro: A Garden for the Senses’ exhibition is a multi-sensory art installation that celebrates Brazilian culture and the brand’s cult Cheirosa perfume mists.

Running from 4 to 8 December at the Miami Beach Botanical Garden, the installation will merge fragrance, art and sustainability in a “vibrant tribute” to the spirit of Brazil.

The showcase enlists emerging Brazilian female artists Niege Borges, Barbara Tamilin and Amanda Lobos, who have reimagined Rio de Janeiro’s dome-shaped phone booths, known locally as orelhões or “big ears.”

Each booth has been transformed into a portal inspired by one of Sol de Janeiro’s Cheirosa fragrances.

The L’Occitane Group-owned brand says they are designed to transport visitors through scent and design to defining moments in Brazilian history and culture.

“Jardim Sol de Janeiro is our love letter to Brazil, an invitation to experience the beauty, energy, and magic of our home through art and scent,” said Heela Yang, co-founder and CEO of Sol de Janeiro.

Each of Sol de Janeiro’s Cheirosa mists serve as inspiration for the installation.

Cheirosa 62 is said to be an ode to the beaches of Rio de Janeiro with notes of pistachio, salted caramel and vanilla, inspired by the global phenomenon of the “Girl from Ipanema” in 1962.

Cheirosa 68 channels Brazil’s Tropicalia movement with Brazilian jasmine, pink dragonfruit and sheer vanilla.

Cheirosa 59 celebrates the rhythms of samba with vanilla orchid, sugared violet and sandalwood.

The interactive displays are surrounded by floral arrangements designed to complement the scents.

In line with its commitment to sustainability, Jardim Sol de Janeiro has been created with eco-conscious practices, including the use of locally sourced materials.

After the event, the flowers from the installation will be donated to local organisations in Miami.
