Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato reunite for ‘Delena’ Rare Beauty campaign

The childhood friends have tapped into the beauty nostalgia trend with Rare Beauty’s new  ‘Still Making Each Other Blush’ campaign, inspired by the pair’s film Princess Protection Program and The Demi + Selena Show YouTube series

Former child stars Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato have reunited for a new nostalgia-filled blush campaign for Gomez’s Rare Beauty.

The pair both appeared in Disney television shows in the 2000s – Gomez in Wizards of Waverly Place and Lovato in Sonny with a Chance – and created a YouTube vlog The Demi + Selena Show together.

In Rare Beauty’s new ‘Still Making Each Other Blush’ campaign, the friends recreate moments from the YouTube series, as well as the Disney film Princess Protection Program, in which they both appeared.

A limited-edition Rare Beauty bundle featuring the brand’s Soft Pinch Liquid Blush called Delena – named after a portmanteau of their names used by fans – has also been released.

Featuring the shade Hope, a nude mauve worn by Gomez in the campaign, and Virtue, a beige peach worn by Lovato, the bundle is available at RareBeauty.com priced at US$50.

In an Instagram post announcing the campaign, Rare Beauty said: “Royal responsibilities include making each other blush.

“@selenagomez and @ddlovato prove that true friends don’t just have your back, they make you blush, too.”

Gomez and Lovato also appeared in a new YouTube vlog.

The collaboration was met with delight from fans.

YouTube user Orddan (@orddan) called it “the reunion of the century”, while Kyara (@whoisky_ commented), “New gen will never understand how iconic this is”.

Jade (@Jkcookiess) said: “I may be 30 years old now but my goodness did I fangirl with this reunion - I never thought it'd ever happen but my heart is so full and complete.”

This is not the only viral blush-themed campaign Rare Beauty has launched this year, with the brand tapping Off Campus actor Ella Bright for a tongue-in-cheek advert in July.
