Prada has announced Academy Award-nominated actor Jake Gyllenhaal as the face of its soon-to-be-revealed men’s fragrance.
In his advertising debut for the brand, Gyllenhaal will front a campaign shot by photographer Sølve Sundsbø, and will appear in a film short directed by Johan Renck, both due to be unveiled on 3 August.
Commenting on the choice, Prada, part of the L'Oréal Luxe portfolio, praised Gyllenhaal’s ‘audacious spirit’ that complements his acting and producing talent, and makes him the ideal ambassador for the ‘adventurous’ new men’s fragrance.
“With a combination of physical and intellectual strength, Jake is a modern adventurer – the perfect embodiment of Prada’s new masculine fragrance,” said Yann Andrea, Prada Beauty International General Manager.
“His unique acting work elevates the limits of emotion, while the visionary projects he produces focus on bold new horizons of storytelling.”
Gyllenhaal has starred in over 60 feature films including Ang Lee’s Brokeback Mountain, for which he received an Oscar nomination.
The Donnie Darko star’s most recent project is Netflix film The Guilty for Netflix, which Gyllenhaal’s company Nine Stories also produced. The film will be release Fall 2021.Prada’s announcement about Gyllenhaal follows news of several big new fragrance launches with famous faces attached.
