The use of a pump or an actuator spray has long been established as the cosmetics and personal care product sector’s go-to dispensing mechanism.

In the case of perfumery in particular, it’s an integral part of the total experience, says Silgan Dispensing’s Associate Marketing Director Global Fragrance & EU Beauty, Sandy Gregory: “We’ve done a lot of exploratory research on ways of applying fragrance.

"Using a brush, a pad or a stick is not really what consumers want. Indeed, research we undertook earlier in the year at the Paris show [ADF&PCD and PLD Paris] has confirmed the preferred way of applying a scent is very much via a spray.
