The launch follows virtual manicure and beard experiences from the YouCam manufacturer

Perfect Corp has launched a new virtual try-on technology to enable brands and salons to show consumers how they would look with different hairstyles and shades.

The beauty tech giant leveraged advanced AI technology, including machine learning and Generative Adversarial Network (GAN), to provide customers with hyper-realistic simulations of haircuts, so that they can visualise certain styles before committing to them.

Consumers can experiment with 12 styles, ranging from buzz cut to classic bob cut to long and wavy with bangs. The experience also offers AR hair colour try on.

Perfect Corp claims this will ultimately help to increase consumer confidence while personalising the salon experience in an exciting new way.

A realistic representation of the end result is achieved by the advanced AI algorithm which is capable of recreating parts of the face, ears, neck, and head, and taking hair colour and skin tone into consideration, claims the company.

The launch follows several other launches this year from Perfect Corp including its YouCam Nails app for a virtual manicure experience and a beard try on offering within its YouCam Makeup app.

“Our goal is to solve consumer pain points through the power of AI and AR technology innovations,” commented Perfect Corp CEO and founder Alice Chang.

“As beauty consumers look to brands and hair salon businesses to provide more personalised and immersive client experiences, Perfect Corp’s AR virtual try-on solution for hairstyles will offer a game-changing tool to supercharge customer satisfaction.”
