L'Oréal is to sell off its bio-cosmetics production plant in the Drome region of France as part of its strategy of reducing units around Europe.
The Drome plant produces Sanoflore brand cosmetic products and will be sold to Fareva by 2010. Fareva, with annual sales of around €300m in the cosmetics sector, has recently moved into natural and organic cosmetics and has 11 production plants in France.
L'Oréal will also sell off the agricultural units producing the raw materials and oils for the Sanoflore range. These will be transferred to Orgarome, a subsidiary of the Orgasynth group. The cosmetics major will retain ownership of the Sanoflore brand and will concentrate on research and development together with marketing of the brand.
