Merit has given its cult Signature Bag a makeover after five years.
The minimalist make-up brand first launched its Signature Bag in 2021 as more than just a make-up bag.
“The idea was always to create an accessory – something you would actually want to take with you and use in your everyday life,” said the brand in a statement.
Tickets are now available for the 25th anniversary of the Pure Beauty Awards, taking place on 15 October 2026 at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London, UK. Join the beauty industry for an evening of recognition and celebration as this year’s winners are revealed. Click here to secure your place.
Limited edition designs of the bag have also been launched, including collaborations with designers Proenza Schouler, TOVE and Brandon Maxwell.
Now, the standard Signature Bag has been redesigned in a slate blue shade.
After five years, “it was ready for a refresh”, the Merit company statement read.
Merit customers have asked for zippers, pockets and longer straps over the years, however, the brand decided against such additions despite demands from its community.
“Instead, we kept the same design elements that made it a signature to begin with, and just reimagined it in slate blue,” the brand added in its statement.
“Because if there is one thing we have learned over the years, it is that some things you just get right the first time.”
Previously available in brown cord, the sack-shaped bag is made from a pleated material giving it a slouchy but elevated appearance, with a tie-top handle.
The new Signature Bag is available from 10 September with all first-time orders made on meritbeauty.com.
Merit’s Signature Bag was reimagined by the designer Brandon Maxwell for autumn/winter 2025, with black peddled vegan leather and a silver metal knot detail inspired by the designer’s signature hardware.
The collaboration also saw the launch of an exclusive, limited edition shade of Merit’s Lip Blush.
