L'Oréal is to re-organise its entire European production of luxury products in northern France following the takeover of Yves Saint Laurent Beauté, an operation involving the closure of a Spanish plant.
The aim is to create "a European centre of excellence" in the north of France. Production will be shared between a unit at Lassigny in the Oise department, which already produces the YSLB range, Caudry in the Nord and Gauchy in the Aisne. A new logistics centre will be installed at Roye to distribute the products produced at Lassigny, Caudry and Gauchy to the world market.
Production from the Albesa plant in Spain will be transferred to France and the Spanish site will be retained as a logistics base. L'Oréal says the totality of these projects will provide the luxury division's brands, especially those of YSLB, with the means of developing markedly over the next few years, while retaining their identities and their expertise.
