L’Oréal has appointed Lliahn Majeed as its new Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer for North America.
Majeed will report to David Greenberg, CEO of L’Oréal USA, and will also sit on the beauty giant’s management committee.
She succeeds Angela Guy, who retired from L’Oréal after a 19-year career with the Garnier and NYX owner.
“For L’Oréal, diversity, equity, and inclusion are fundamental to our business strategy, anchored in the strong expectations of our stakeholders and rich beauty expressions of our consumers,” said Greenberg.
“Liliahn has an impressive track record of advancing DE&I initiatives that shape and shift culture and accelerate business transformation in large, culturally relevant organisations."
Majeed joins from music company Universal Music Group (UMG), where she was the business’ first Global Chief Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging Officer.
During her tenure, she also co-chaired the Institutional Change Committee of UMG’s Task Force for Meaningful Change.
Prior to this Majeed spent 15 years at the National Basketball Association (NBA), as Senior VP of Diversity and Inclusion.
In this role she led team diversity and inclusion efforts across the NBA, WNBA and NBA G Leagues.
“My mission is to be a leader of the global belonging movement where we all believe that we are more alike than we are different, and that even those differences could create tremendous value for the world,” added Majeed.
