Hello Sunday has voluntarily recalled one of its mineral sunscreens in the UK over concerns that it does not give the full level of protection stated.
The sunscreen brand identified discrepancies in recent testing of its The One For Your Eyes Mineral Eye Cream SPF 50, which showed the product failed to meet the stated level of SPF.
In a notice on Hello Sunday’s website, the brand said: “At Hello Sunday, we treat our customers’ confidence in the efficacy of our products extremely seriously.
“This is why in light of recent multiple recalls across the industry resulting from recent testing discrepancies, we made the proactive decision to retest our product range to ensure full confidence in the protection our products provide.
“Initial testing for The One For Your Eyes Mineral Eye Cream SPF 50 confirmed that the product met the labelled SPF 50 UVB protection, but recent test results showed that it failed to meet the level of SPF stated on the product label.”
Hello Sunday said in the statement that it had not received any reports related to the issue directly or via regulatory authorities.
But the company said it was “proactively and voluntarily” recalling the product “out of an abundance of caution to ensure full consumer safety, as well as product compliance and efficacy, given that the level of protection may not be that stated on the product label”.
Hello Sunday’s statement continued: “At Hello Sunday, the efficacy of our products is treated extremely seriously.
“As a brand built on transparency, we hold ourselves to the highest possible standards, and we are truly sorry that this product has not met the expected level of performance.”
All batches of The One For Your Eyes Mineral Eye Cream SPF 50 are affected and were sold in the period December 2025 to February 2026 with the receipt and price ticket code 079989.
A recall notice published by the UK government’s Office for Product Safety and Standards said the product has failed SPF testing with variable results.
Describing the risk, the notice said: “The product may not provide adequate protection and could increase the risk of sun-related skin damage and sunburn.
“The product does not meet the requirements of Regulation (EC) 1223/2009 (The Cosmetics Regulation).”
The product was sold at UK retailers Boots and TK Maxx, as well as directly to customers on Hello Sunday’s website.
Anyone using the product is advised to stop using it immediately and return it to the place they purchased the product.
Hello Sunday has a refund form for customers who purchased the product.
Several brands have recalled or paused the sale of dozens of sunscreen products in the UK and Australia after discrepancies were found between the stated level of SPF and the actual protection offered following testing.
An investigation by the Australian consumer watchdog Choice brought the issue to light last year.
The group’s testing in June 2025 found that 16 of 20 brands failed to provide the level of sun protection factor advertised on their bottles.
However, the issue was found to be more widespread as more brands not tested by Choice used the same base formula.
