CeraVe has conquered skin care and made waves in hair care, but now the drugstore brand wants to become a top five dermocosmetics sun care brand globally.
The L’Oréal-owned beauty business debuted its two-years-in-the-making CeraVe Sun Care You Want to Wear range in May 2026, bringing the dermatologist-developed expertise and ceramide science that made it so successful in skin care into the sun protection category.
This huge category entry is part of CeraVe’s broader strategy to ramp up its global footprint after performing well in 2025 and accelerating double-digits globally in the first quarter of 2026 (and double-digits in every zone during this time), the brand told Cosmetics Business.
“We are ambitious and our goal is quite bold. We want to enter the top five dermocosmetics sun care brands globally this year – [so in] the first year of launch,” says Vincent Chauvière, CeraVe’s Global Brand President.
Tickets are now available for the 25th anniversary of the Pure Beauty Awards, taking place on 15 October 2026 at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London, UK. Join the beauty industry for an evening of recognition and celebration as this year’s winners are revealed. Click here to secure your place.
“The goal with CeraVe is to keep expanding the brand, and for that, we go through two things – geographic expansion and category expansion.
“Sun care is a very strategic conquest as it is the third largest category in dermocosmetics, with a very strong pharmacy footprint.
“Sun care occupies a significantly larger retail footprint in pharmacies compared to mass market retail, indicating that consumers tend to turn to pharmacies as a source of medical authority for sun protection.
“And we are confident because our offer is built to answer local specificities – there are all types of products, from nomadic and family usage to all areas of the body, which answer all demands.”
CeraVe’s sun care range comprises five face and body products which claim to deliver full spectrum UVA and UVB protection that is water-, sweat-, sand- and pollution-resistant; designed to absorb into the skin rapidly; and dermatologist-developed and tested.

It is formulated with the brand’s three skin-identical ceramides, helping to build skin barrier strength, as well as CeraVe’s patented MVE Technology to deliver controlled release for all-day hydration, and vitamin E for antioxidant protection.
The collection launch was highlighted in a big way during CeraVe’s first Global CerAwards in Los Angeles, US, on 4 June, which
