The British Beauty Council has launched a bold and collaborative new campaign to address the rising threat of UV-related skin damage and melanoma in the UK.

The move marks a significant step towards making sun protection education, accessibility and regulation a national priority.

This cross-industry coalition – including support from L’Oréal Groupe, Hello Sunday, No7 Beauty Company, BYOMA, and leading UK retailers such as Boots, Debenhams, Lookfantastic and Face The Future – seeks to standardise and strengthen the UK’s messaging around suncare and SPF usage.

The initiative coincides with the launch of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Beauty & Wellbeing’s first official inquiry into UV safety.

At the Westminster launch event, industry figures and campaigners highlighted the urgent need for public education and policy reform.

Jessica Diner, Global Beauty & Wellness Director at British Vogue, was clear about the stakes.

“Let us be clear, protecting your skin from damage is not just a final step. It is vital,” said Diner.
