Dior has appointed signer Rihanna as the face of its J’adore fragrance.

The Grammy Award-winning artist and founder of cosmetics line Fenty Beauty will feature in a new campaign for the luxury brand’s hero scent.

Set to debut on 1 September, the campaign has been shot by photographer Steven Klein.

Rihanna was chosen as ambassador because she embodies the values of the scent, explained Parfums Christian Dior CEO Véronique Courtois.

“The unusual talent, audacity and captivating beauty of this absolute star are the ideal embodiment of dazzling, powerful Dior femininity that transcends generations,” said Courtois.

“Christian Dior would most definitely have adored her.”

Rihanna said being the face of J’adore is “an honour”, adding, “This scent, that I have known and loved for so long, means so much to women.

“I am especially looking forward to joining this adventure and contributing to it through my world, my story, my roots, as well as my creativity and my own femininity.”

Rihanna is no stranger to the beauty world, having launched her own make-up and skin care lines Fenty Beauty and Fenty Skin.

The pop star, who also owns lingerie company Savage X Fenty, was named in Forbes Billionaires Rich List this year due to her successful beauty empire.

The entrepreneur has now expanded her operations with the launch of hair care line Fenty Hair.

Dior also appointed South African actress Charlize Theron as its skin care ambassador last month.
