Fenty Beauty is continuing its Asia expansion.
Singer Rihanna, the brand’s billionaire founder, took to Chinese social media platform Weibo to announce that Fenty Beauty would be launching in mainland China from 1 April.
“China, I am thrilled to share the great news,” said the Umbrella and Diamonds singer in a video: “On April 1, Fenty Beauty will officially land.
“China has such a rich culture that has always inspired me and I cannot wait to share Fenty Beauty with all of you, celebrating your unique beauty.
“Thank you guys so much for making my dream come true and I can’t wait to see you soon.”
A second promotional video on @Rihanna_official via Weibo and on Fenty Beauty’s YouTube channel confirmed in a caption that the brand will be sold in Sephora China.
The news comes just weeks after LVMH-owned Fenty Beauty surprised industry observers by partnering with beauty retailer Nykaa for its debut in India.
Rumours had circulated that Rihanna’s brand would retail in India via Sephora after the singer performed at the pre-wedding party of Indian billionaire Mukesh Ambani’s son.
Ambani is chair of Reliance Industries, which acquired the rights to Sephora’s India branch from Arvind Fashions in 2023 for more than US$11m.
Fenty Beauty officially became available to Indian consumers via Nykaa’s Cross Border Store on 7 March.
