Chanel has opened its first beauty shop in Mumbai as it ramps up its presence in India’s prestige market.
The French luxury brand’s new boutique is situated within Mumbai’s Phoenix Palladium Mall shopping centre in Lower Parel.
Shailja Ruia, Senior General Manager of Leasing at Phoenix Mills Limited, which owns the shopping centre, announced the partnership on LinkedIn.
“Chanel fragrance and beauty now at Phoenix Palladium,” posted Ruia.
“First in Mumbai with much more than ever before.”
The store features Chanel’s iconic black and white brand colours throughout and houses its fragrance, make-up and skin care ranges.
This is Chanel’s third fragrance and beauty boutique in India, with two others located in New Delhi’s Select CityWalk Mall and DLF Promenade Mall shopping centres.
India’s beauty market is forecasted to reach US$20bn by 2025, according to market analyst Euromonitor, growing at a double-digit CAGR in the next five-to-ten years.
Chanel is not the only cosmetics company making a play for India's burgeoning prestige beauty market.

RRVL has acquired the exclusive rights to build the beauty brand’s presence in India across all channels.
Japanese conglomerate Shiseido has opened its first standalone store in India and appointed its first Indian ambassador, Bollywood star Tamannaah Bhatia.
Estée Lauder Companies, meanwhile, has celebrated Indian beauty brands and creators in its Beauty & You incubator awards.
