Shiseido has named Tamannaah Bhatia its first-ever Indian brand ambassador as the company expands its business in the region.
The Bollywood actress will front Shiseido’s skin care range in India and she is said to embody the Japanese conglomerate’s values of “elegance, innovation and individuality.”
Bhatia has starred in more than 75 Bollywood films, including Ayan and Sketch, and has garnered numerous accolades.
"Shiseido’s commitment to innovation, quality and celebrating individuality resonates with me on a personal level,” said Bhatia.
“I believe that beauty is not just about external appearance, but also about feeling confident and empowered in your own skin.”
The partnership between Shiseido and Bhatia is the latest step in the company’s “unwavering commitment” to connect with the Indian market.
The beauty giant is opening its first-ever Shiseido boutique in Mumbai on 18 October.
Situated at Inorbit Mall Malad, it is being launched in collaboration with distributors Baccarose Perfumes and Beauty Products.
This follows the launch of Shiseido’s make-up brand NARS Cosmetics into India earlier this year.
This was achieved through a distribution partnership agreement with Global SS Beauty Brands.
"We are committed to bringing the best of Shiseido to the Indian beauty market,” said Nicolas Baudonnet, Vice President, Fragrance and Cosmetics division, at Shiseido Asia Pacific.
“With the appointment of Tamannaah and expanding our presence in the market with the opening of our first brand store in Mumbai, we are looking forward to bringing Indian beauty enthusiasts on an exciting journey ahead with the brand.
“We look forward to working closely with Tamannaah and believe that her association with our brand will help us connect with consumers on a deeper level.”
It has been a time of change for Shiseido.
The Japanese beauty conglomerate recently entered the wellness arena with a new inner beauty brand.
Shiseido Beauty Wellness offers products said to help customers achieve their own beauty from the inside out.
