Chanel has launched the Comete Collective, a new initiative aimed at reinvigorating and diversifying the brand’s make-up division.
Ammy Drammeh, Cécile Paravina and Valentina Li are the first "rising star" make-up artists to join the scheme, with new beauty professionals expected to join over the coming years.
Drammeh has worked as a make-up artist for & Other Stories for over nine years, and has over 15,000 followers on her Instagram account.
Paravina, meanwhile, has had her work featured Bryant Artists, an independent creative agency representing hair, make-up, stylists, set designers.
Li originally worked as a journalist, but switched over to professional make-up in 2015 and is now represented by creative agency, The ASCC World.
From October 2022, the trio will work to expand Chanel’s colours and shades, reinterpret brand icons and reinvent its creative language.
“The House is proud to partner with these artists, the deserving recipients of international acclaim for their creativity, their expertise, and their free and authentic visions of beauty,” Chanel said in a statement.
“With the support of the Chanel Makeup Creation Studio, they will contribute to the development of new collections and imagine inspiring content for Chanel make-up lovers.”
The initial three members of the collective were chosen for their “vibrant and singular vision of beauty”.
Each artist will create their own seasonal collections and work together on shared releases.
Chanel will reveal its first collections created under the Comete Collective scheme in January 2024.
“By creating this community of emerging talents, the Chanel Makeup Creation Studio follows in the entrepreneurial footsteps of Gabrielle Chanel, often revolutionary and always at the service of an iconic style that defines its time,” Chanel added.
