Tropic Skincare has reopened the doors to its headquarters in Croydon, England, UK, as it completes phase one of a £5m investment into its operational location.
The skin care and cosmetics brand, founded by Susie Ma, set out to refurbish and update its office space, manufacturing facilities and in-house laboratories in late 2025, signalling a fresh start for the business following the entrepreneur regaining full ownership from British business magnate Lord Alan Sugar.
“It all started really with Susie gaining back 100% of her business, and I think that sparked an idea for her to ask how can we refresh the space that we are working in because it is all hers again,” Carlton Connell, Managing Director of Tropic Skincare, told Cosmetics Business.
“It is like a 360 moment.”
Connell, who has been with the business since its market stall days, was tasked with overseeing the project.
The aim was to transform the space that houses almost 300 staff members and every aspect of the business’ operations into a hub for innovation – and a home for both internal team members and Tropic Skincare’s network of ambassadors.
“The total estimate is around £5m and that is actually three phases,” explained Connell.

“The next space is our warehouse and dispatch, and that is already happening.
“We are tripling the space in one of the spaces with a three-level mezzanine, so that we can pick, pack, dispatch faster, enabling us to grow.
“And, of course, there are social spaces over there that need to be updated as well.
“Then, of course, we have got the factory that will also be having a redesign at some point.
“More machinery, more automation, to really make sure that the people that we are utilising here, we can really upskill [them] to have those really sen
