Symrise opens creative centre in China

Global fragrances and flavourings manufacturer Symrise is to open a new creative centre in Shanghai. The new facility will serve as the regional hub for north east Asia when it opens on 18 June. It will also house the company’s Chinese Scent & Care division and its Navigator Center, a new consumer research facility for fragrance. Initially, 51 employees will work at the Shanghai office, a number expected to rise to 70 by 2013.

“China is one of the most important growth markets for Symrise,” said Scent & Care’s global president, Achim Daub. “Opening a new Creative Center in Shanghai is proof of the critical role that the entire Asian market plays in the development of our business.”

Symrise has also announced the appointment of dermatologist Professor Xuemin Wang as its new scientific advisor. Professor Wang is vp of the Shanghai Skin Diseases & STD Hospital and heads its Skin & Cosmetic Research Department. He will be advising Symrise on the development of cosmetic agents for the Chinese market.
