AS Watson Health & Beauty UK, the parent company of Superdrug, has appointed Clare Jennings its new Property Director.
Jennings will succeed Nigel Duxbury, who is set to retire on 2 May after two decades with the business.
Jennings, who has been with AS Watson since 2018, steps into the role following her tenure as Head of Estates.
With 25 years of experience in commercial property, her promotion marks a key milestone for Superdrug.
She is the third female executive to join the board of directors, alongside People Director Amy Davies and Trading Director Meg Potter.
Superdrug said her leadership will be instrumental in executing Superdrug’s ambitious expansion plans for 2025, which include the opening of 30 new stores and refurbishment of 65 existing locations.
“I am delighted to be promoted into the role of Property Director at AS Watson, a business that has already given me so many career highlights,” said Jennings.
“We have very strong ambitions for 2025, ensuring our customers continue to enjoy modern, engaging shopping environments.”
In addition to overseeing the estates strategy for Superdrug, Jennings will also take on responsibility for The Perfume Shop, mirroring Duxbury’s remit.
Peter Macnab, CEO of Superdrug and AS Watson Health & Beauty UK, paid tribute to Duxbury’s legacy, highlighting his contributions to the company’s growth and sustainability efforts.
“Nigel’s immense contribution to AS Watson Group has been nothing short of remarkable,” said Macnab.
“From integrating Beauty Studios into Superdrug stores to leading our ESG workstream and charity partnership with Marie Curie, he has played a fundamental role in shaping the business.”
Duxbury’s leadership in ESG initiatives has helped Superdrug raise £13m for Marie Curie for 11 years, a legacy Macnab describes as “incredibly successful and longstanding”.
