Superdrug debuts contactless payment

Published: 17-Jan-2012

Introduced in 50 stores in Liverpool and London

UK C&T retailer Superdrug has introduced contactless payment in 50 stores across London and Liverpool. The technology, provided by Streamline and supported by Visa Europe, is said to offer customers an additional, faster payment method that will result in quicker transaction times, reduced queues and increased customer satisfaction. For payments of up to £15 consumers will be able to tap the reader with their contactless enabled card and pay in less than a second.

“The adoption of this technology will provide a new and improved experience for our customers, with reduced queues and faster transactions,” said Superdrug financial director Gill Smith.

Superdrug plans to expand its contactless acceptance across the UK during 2012.
