Nina Ricci (Puig) has collaborated with French patisserie Ladurée to launch a limited edition fragrance named La Tentation de Nina. The creation of the new scent marks the first time that master perfumer Olivier Cresp joined forces with Vincent Lemains, New Creation Pastry Chef at Ladurée, to work on a new fragrance concept.
The result of the partnership, described as a “fresh, fruity floral” by the brand, features a macaroon accord created by combining almonds, lemons, Bulgarian rose absolute and raspberries – which Cresp told Cometics Business is the defining ingredient of the scent. Bourbon vanilla, white musk and sandalwood round out the base.
At the same time, Lemains has created a limited edition pink macaroon to celebrate the launch of La Tentation de Nina, which contains the same key notes as the scent: raspberry, lemon, rose and almond.
“The most challenging aspect of creating the fragrance,” said Cresp, “was to only use ingredients that could be used in the macaroon. In my palette, there are hundreds of fragrance molecules. In Vincent’s, there are fewer [ingredients]. In addition, what is pleasant to smell and taste can be very different things.”
The fragrance is housed in Nina Ricci’s signature apple-shaped bottle. Similarly, reflecting the hot pink and gold colour scheme of the new flacon, the Ladurée macaroon is coloured raspberry pink and decorated in gold leaf.
La Tentation de Nina launches worldwide from 27 January, priced from £40. The limited edition La Tentation de Nina macaroons will be priced from £16.40 for a box of eight, available from Ladurée’s global network of stores from February.
