The introduction of US brand Oribe to Japanese salons forms part of Kao's strategy to grow its salon business across Asia

Kao Corporation is launching its prestige hair salon brand Oribe in Japan via its subsidiary Kao Salon Japan.

The 23 product-line up, which is available in Japan from today, was founded in 2008 in the US by hair stylist Oribe Canales and purchased by the Kao Group in 2018.

Japan will be the fifth area in Asia in which Oribe will have a presence, with the brand being introduced exclusively to selected salons in Japan, supported by lectures for professionals on Oribe products and styles.

Yuichi Akagi, President, Kao Salon Japan, said of the expansion: “We have decided on its launch, believing that this brand loved by many celebrities in the US can propose high-quality, elegant beauty together with numerous sophisticated stylists in Japan as well.”

Kao has announced its intention to expand Oribe gradually across the Asia region to strengthen the global presence of the Kao Salon Business, which is currently focused on Europe and the US.
