Animal testing ban in US takes one step closer

Several US states are drawing closer to banning animal testing in cosmetics.

Illinois' state Senate has just passed a bill that would ban the import or sale of any cosmetic product developed using tests on animals from 2020.

The bill makes exceptions for situations where animal testing is required by state or federal regulations and will require changing the Illinois Food, Drug and Cosmetics act.
