Men in the beauty industry are being paid significantly more than their female colleagues.
Data analysed by Cosmetics Business revealed that the average gender pay gap for beauty brands and retailers was 8.3% in favour of men – 1% above the national average.
However, when divided, personal care retailers were almost half of the UK average (4.65%) but beauty brands increased threefold to 24.4%.
British companies with more than 250 employees are now required, by law, to reveal the salary disparities between men and women.
Many brands and retailers revealed that the gap is caused by a high proportion of women working in-store compared to a large number of men in technical and executive roles.
