A new concept store named La Place has opened in Paris offering niche perfumes, art exhibitions, olfactory workshops and conferences.
The store, at 9 rue Française in the 2nd arrondissement, opened on 1 September and will close in December.
The idea is the brainchild of Virginie Roux, Artistic Director of local fragrance house Au Pays de la Fleur d’Oranger, who worked as a brand consultant for beauty brands; and Architect and Art Specialist, Emmanuel Pierre.
Around a dozen perfume brands will be stocked in store, including Au Pays de la Fleur d’Oranger, which Roux founded in collaboration with perfumer Jean Claude Gigodot; fragrance and candle brand, Rose et Marius; and Parisian perfume house Coquillete Paris, which launched in 2012 and now stocks 16 fragrances.
The store will also have a dedicated space showcasing exhibitions of the perfume’s history.
The first, set to be open until 22 September, Flacons et portraits de famille - meaning ‘bottles and family portraits’ - created in collaboration with bottle designer Jérôme Dinand, son of designer Pierre Dinand, who has worked with the likes of Alfred Sung, Burberry and Calvin Klein.
Meanwhile, its conferences will be held on female perfumers and the history of paper and perfume, in addition the store will host olfactive workshops led by perfumers for its customers.
The space will also put on exhibitions of contemporary artists in a space designed by Pierre.
