The make-up brand is taking an unconventional approach to the festive season, celebrating the 1970s movement with a studded advent calendar

NARS’ limited edition Holiday 2018 (from £15) season is pretty punk.

To celebrate the 1970s anti-establishment movement, the collection uses studded packaging to reflect the motif seen across punk jewellery, jackets and shoes.

Francois Nars, founder and Creative Director of the eponymous brand, said: “I find inspiration in so many places – especially the eras of the past.

“I have always loved the fashion and beauty of the 1970s; it was bold, edgy and most of all rebellious.”

Available from October, the range includes the Uncensored Advent Calendar featuring the entire collection – and then some.

Meanwhile, the Riot Velvet Matte Lip Pencil Set is four-piece collection housed in a safety pin make-up bag.

“I admire the edgy beauty of the 1970s,” Nars added. “The dark, mysterious eye; porcelain skin; studs and piercings – the artistry was unlike anything we had seen before.”

NARS frequently avoids traditional festive inspiration in its Christmas collection.

Last year, the Shiseido-owned make-up brand was inspired by surrealist photographer Man Ray.
