The fourth edition of MakeUp in Paris was held at the Carrousel du Louvre from 20-21 June, as Lucy Copp reports
Creativity was the buzzword at MakeUp in Paris 2013. From novel packaging and applicator launches, to interactive workshops and artistic ‘animations’, the event organisers certainly cut no corners when it came to inspiring innovation at this year’s show.
Opening its doors on 20 June, the two day show occupied three rooms in the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris, spanning over 3,300sqm of floorspace. The number of visitors increased by 18% on 2012, totalling 2,517, while marketing and R&D managers accounted for over 50% of visitors. There was also a rise in the number of exhibitors on the previous year, up from 65 to 90, with over 60% of these coming from European and Asian countries, and the US. For the first time, Japan and Spain were also represented at the show, while Korean exhibitors expanded their presence.
However, Sandra Maguarian, MakeUp in Paris co-founder, explained that growing the show is not necessarily the main focus. “We began the show with 28 exhibitors and we have 90 this year,” she said. “We already have a lot of requests for next year, but we have to be very attentive to the requests because we don’t want too many exhibitors. The exhibitors here are very proud to be part of this exclusive family. We want to maintain this atmosphere and the intimacy.”
