Niles + Chaz, founded by Netflix TV star Mike Colter, is a line of ‘clean’ hair care products for mixed race children

Luke Cage actor Mike Colter has launched a hair care range for children with multi-ethnic heritage.

Niles + Chaz is a collection of four ‘clean’, vegan styling products for children with mixed-textured hair which comprise 90% naturally-derived ingredients. 

The brand – whose slogan is ‘Hair I Am!’ – aims to “celebrate the beauty of mixed-textured hair and multi-ethnic heritage [and] promote children's self-confidence and inclusivity”. 

The Netflix star founded the brand with his wife and former entertainment executive, Iva Colter, and named it after their daughters Niles and Chaz.

Styling product Tangles Shmagnles is a vitamin-infused curl detangler which aims to hydrate hair and banish frizz.

It is formulated with flaxseed oil, marshmallow extract, watermelon, banana and okra.

Curl Raiser claims to revive curls and tame frizz using a blend of natural plant extracts, vitamins, butter oils and strengthening proteins. 

Styling cream What The Frizz! works to define curls and boost hair growth with a formulation packed with jojoba extract, shea butter and marshmallow. 

Pre-shampoo treatment Scalp Enhancer claims to prevent scalp damage and is said to be good for post-braids, twists or locs scalp clean-up. 

Key ingredients include murumuru, pumpkin, mango and charcoal. 

Niles + Chaz products range from US$16 to $28.

The hair care market is proving to be the latest category for celebrity founders to enter.

Rihanna recently debuted Fenty Hair – a ‘flexible line of products’ for all hair types – which complements her Fenty Beauty business.

Singer Beyoncé unveiled her textured hair care brand Cécred, based on keratin recovery tech, in February.  

British singer-songwriter Rita Ora has also teamed up with Vida Glow’s Anna Lahey to launch hair care line Typebea
