The flavours and fragrance giant is building Campus 52 in Grasse, which will house a production facility and innovation laboratory, as part of its commitment to developing exclusive ingredients

Givaudan is investing CHF 55m to build a new natural ingredients centre in Grasse, France, comprising a production facility and innovation laboratory.

The construction of Campus 52 follows the acquisition of land in Grasse – known as “the historic cradle of perfumery” – marking a “strategic commitment” in the Swiss fragrance company’s development of its ‘House of Naturals’ entity.

Givaudan’s ‘House of Naturals’ is dedicated to the development of exclusive ingredients.

It focuses on cutting-edge extraction technologies and operational excellence to deliver premium ingredients, backed by Givaudan’s responsible sourcing programme.

It is built on four pillars – agronomy, innovation, operations and perfumers.

Concentrating a production facility and innovation laboratory within Campus 52 will enable Givaudan to foster “close collaboration between scientists and partners, while boosting perfumers’ inspiration”.

The space will be surrounded by gardens to “ensure the continuity from field to fragrance”, building on the company’s “sustainable creativity”.

The construction of Campus 52 follows Givaudan reporting a 5.1% rise in sales to CHF 7.5bn for the 2025 financial year.

“Located in the heart of Grasse, Campus 52 represents a return to our roots, where perfumery traditions, know-how and craftsmanship have flourished for centuries,” said Gilles Andrier, CEO of Givaudan, who is set to retire from the business this year.

“This investment is fully aligned with Givaudan’s 2030 strategy, which aims to drive sustainable growth by creating high value‑added fragrance solutions that consumers love.”

Xavier Renard, Global Head of Fine Fragrance, said the new campus will host “development and production capabilities designed to deliver exclusive, high‑quality natural ingredients”.

He added: “Givaudan’s perfumers are at the heart of fragrance creation, and Campus 52 will enrich their palette with even more exceptional natural ingredients, to craft the best fragrances of tomorrow.”
