Freeman adds uniaxial powder tester to powder rheometer

Freeman Technology has enhanced its FT4 Powder Rheometer, adding a uniaxial powder tester. Uniaxial testing involves measuring the force needed to break or fracture a column of consolidated powder – the most direct method of measuring unconfined yield strength, a parameter of cohesivity.

In the past, use of this technique has been inhibited by difficulties in repeatedly producing a uniformly packed and consolidated powder column. But Freeman claims to have developed a new accessory that produces a homogenous, uniform powder column for testing.
