Merit has launched a shimmering eyeshadow alternative to its Solo Shadow Matte, with The Addams Family and Wednesday star Christina Ricci fronting the campaign.
The minimalist beauty brand’s new campaign takes inspiration from the playful approach to shimmering shadows seen throughout the 1990s, with actress Ricci herself an icon from that era.
Available from 22 October, Solo Shadow Sheen is landing in six sheer shimmering shades, each formulated with microfine pearls for a subtle but buildable sheen finish without glitter.
“When we launched Solo Shadow in 2023, we immediately started receiving comments and DMs asking for a version with shimmer, which led us to develop Solo Shadow Sheen – a buildable cream shadow that gives a hint of pearlescent colour,” said Aila Morin, Merit’s Chief Marketing Officer.
“It is our take on the glitter eyeshadows of the 1990s and late-night clubs, made to be wearable for our adult lives, when we want to add a little fun.”

The shadows use jojoba extract for a smooth cream texture finish that blends easily across the eyes, with the microfine pearly providing a multidimensional wash of colour.
They can be worn alone or layered with other formulas, such as Merit’s Solo Shadow Matte, launched in six shades: silver Palladium, soft rose Glacé, gold Surrealism, soft plum Iris, bronze Sartorial and soft burgundy Matchbook.
