For years consumers have been relying on the excuse that chocolate and red wine are good for your heart. Well, now there is evidence that they could also be good for your looks.
A new drug claimed to have anti-ageing properties may hit shelves within the next five years if ongoing clinical trials prove successful. The drug contains resveratrol, a compound found in dark chocolate, cocoa and red wine that has been discovered to stimulate the ‘longevity’ gene, which could help organisms live up to 20% longer. The research on resveratrol, conducted by David Sinclair, head of Harvard Medical School’s anti-ageing research team, has been sold to a leading pharmaceutical company for $750m and is currently undergoing clinical trials.
